We appreciate your interest in Bigfork Fire Department. The Volunteer Firefighter and Senior Firefighter Positions are the backbone of our Bigfork Fire & Ambulance organization. Firefighters are the most essential resource and positions needed for the safe, efficient and effective response to emergency incidents under the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Who We Are
- The Bigfork Fire Department provides emergency services to a 100 square miles rural fire district. The
district is funded by the taxpayers through county assessed property taxes.
- The Bigfork Fire Department is a combination organization with both full time paid staff and paid per call volunteers.
- The fire department is led by the chief and the assistant chief; they are responsible for management and overall operations. The department has four captains and seventeen firefighters.
- The Bigfork Fire Department responds with three engines and support apparatus from three stations located strategically in the district.
- Fire department members carry fire department pagers and are alerted to calls through the county dispatch center. Upon receipt of a fire call members respond to their respective stations to respond to the scene with apparatus.
- Fire department members are required to attend a minimum of 30 regular training hours per year and respond to a minimum of 5% of the calls received per year. (Approximately 13 calls).
